He Has Risen: Loving One Another Is A Heavenly Maundy
by Abraham Khoureis, Ph.D., M.A.
In his humility, Jesus defined our role in leading and devised our plan of action of how to lead others while serving them.
In his heavenly maundy (commandment) to love and serve one another, Jesus taught us that in humility we grow. In humbleness, we prosper. And in serving others, we free ourselves.
Jesus, the leader, humbled himself by serving others. Thus, eliminating the mere thought of any imposed, or voluntary servitude between a leader and his follower. In the world of Jesus, and to Jesus, leaders led by serving their followers.
Since the rise of Jesus to His Maker, not much has changed. Evil leads continues to prosper, while the good people tragically suffer and die. The ills of the world are still many. It may take leaders who align their behaviors with the “genuine” teaching of Jesus to solve them.
In loving one another we defeat hate. And in serving one another we defeat the ‘I, myself, and only me’ in us.
How can we help?
In his day, we can rise to the potential of our humanity. We have to love and serve each other regardless of our color, religion, race, gender, background, or sexual orientation.
He has Risen. Have you?
